In order to have a successful Canada Day Lacrosse tournament we need the help of our membership through volunteering opportunities. One of which is having volunteers on our committee of 6 (or 9 perhaps) to hep oversee the four day event. Please review the information below.
Tournament Dates
Tournament games will begin late afternoon on Friday June 26 continuing Saturday June 27 and Sunday June 28. Medal games will be Monday June 29.
Tournament Teams
We will receive a spot for one team in each division that is offered. U17 A; U17B; U15A, etc. down to U11 A. Where there are multiple teams in a Division level ie: "U13B" - we will draw for a team. If that team cannot attend we will offer it to another team.
Tournament Volunteers (please see attached volunteer description)
The volunteers to run the tournament are supplied by each host club. We need volunteer from Friday evening; Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 10 pm and Monday from 8 am to 5 pm. It is up to each host club to fulfill all of their volunteer spots. Clubs fill their volunteer spots various ways and in 2025 we had the teams attending fulfill the volunteering shifts (3-4 hours / shift) (security, raffle table, etc. This year you will note that we have given all members the opportunity to fulfill their club commitment by volunteering at Canada Day where required. YOU NEED TO ENSURE YOU ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS WEEKEND. If we need further spots filled then we will look to those teams that are attending to fill any vacant spots.
Tournament Committee Members
We need six committee members from the Hornets to sit on the committee. The committee members must be available prior to the tournament for committee planning meetings (zoom), act as the communication liaison with their own clubs with the help of the Executive Director, be onsite at the tournament for the entire duration (June 26-June 29). Each one of the three (or six) host club committee members will be in charge of a different task, one will help solicit and organize their club's silent auction/raffle items, one will organize their club's volunteers, and one will assist with game/tournament experience (Security). Last year the Hornets and Venom had 6 people in pairs that split the tasks and ensured that one person from each pair was onsite at the tournament for the duration.
We need to provide the CDLA with our committee names by February 28.
